Ciao Enzo

I am looking forward to catching up with you for a quick drink and a bite to eat this evening. I am not sure how this all fits into my dietary plans, but we only live once, huh!?!

A pretty busy week here- a nice dinner on Tuesday with some friends from Lugano, our budding pilot from the office is out of the office for a while to sit some exams, $/CHF goes to all-time lows and our old landlords are hosting a big party up at the house on Saturday night.

Catherine is in the process of setting up a new laptop so that she can work from home when it is necessary- I certainly think that it will be more comfortable and convenient for both of us.

Happy Birthday Brian! Hope that you have had a good day- will try to speak with you a little later.

Happy Birthday Nicole

we hope that your darling family take care of you and that you all have a great day together. Would love to be there to help you celebrate, but we know how that would all turn out.... don't we?!?

Enjoy whatever it is that you have planned and take it easy- this is your big day. Love to you, Moose, Noodle and Man-doing too

At the end of a beautiful weekend

and I am looking very much forward to steak, potatoes, rucola and a bottle of Tignanello for dinner. I went for a wander around in town today after a visit to the gym and it really looked as if spring had arrived- the sun was shining and people were getting about in t-shirts while enjoying the day.

Lucky that I was out to soak up some sun as it looks like we are in for some rain this coming week. We don't normally have to say it here, but I guess that the rain is needed after a dry, mild winter.

Angus told me today that he is sending Aunty Catherine a thank you letter and he hopes that she might send him some chocolate. We will see how that all turns out.......

Just perfect timing :-(

Tonight we have a total eclipse of the moon and Catherine is in Geneva so it wouldn't matter what time I got up out of bed, how much noise I made or indeed how long I stayed up. Appropriately, late this afternoon it started to rain...... Still drizzling now and lots of cloud cover so I am not sure that it will be even worthwhile to set the alarm and wake up. Such a pity as I thought that it might have been fun to have taken some photos of the eclipse.

Happy Birthday Cornelia- hope that you have had a nice day and a pleasant evening with Chef Enzo. We look forward to seeing you both again soon.

First post from Mission Control

I have spent a little while this afternoon upgrading our home internet connection to wireless and now I am able to sit on the sofa and access the internet.

We had a great pizza for lunch and the oven is on with slow-cooked ribs for dinner. With a bowl of rice and some stir-fried broccoli we should have a great meal.

I spoke with Jacqueline yesterday and she was pretty excited about her birthday and had a great party. The Princesses were in good form and from all reports a good time was had. I can't remember what it was like being 4.....

A busy week in front of us........ Catherine is off to Geneva for a couple of days to work and I am trying to get into the gym- we have holidays booked for April and it would be nice to have lost a little weight and gotten fitter before then.

Saturday 16 February 2008

Does anyone that you know turn 4 today??

Dear Jacqueline,
we wish you a very Happy Birthday and hope that you have a great "Princess Party" with your friends. Sorry that we won't get to see you today but we will speak with you on the phone a little later.
lots of love, hugs and kisses,
Uncle David and Aunty Catherine xxxxxxxx

Gosh, I love this stuff!

But it does make it hard to lose weight- it wouldn't matter how many times you ran around the block........ this is just too good to put down. This evening we have been enjoying a block of Lindt Dark Chocolate with Oranges and Almonds and about the only way I think that it could be better would be to drink a glass of something interesting with it.

The mighty FC Zurich are doing battle with the Hamburgers this evening- good luck to all of the gang down at the Letzi!
Not a lot going on here this week- a couple of the lucky guys from the office have taken the week off for ski holidays- lots of snow, blue skies and plenty of sun. I'm sure that they are having a ball.

Another very enjoyable Cook Club last night

and with les Chefs Heinz and Thomas in great form, we all had fun and a great dinner. It is always nice to cook and eat something that you normally wouldn't do on your own and we tried some good wines as well. I believe that the ladies had a good time as well, but it might have been a little difficult for some to have gotten out of bed for tennis this morning :-)

Today is another beautiful day and I am hoping to get out for a bike ride a little later- at the very least it will be a long walk and the chance to take some photos. It would be a shame to waste such a sunny, warm day in February. I am really happy with my new 180/2.8 lens- it is compact, fast and gives great quality images so I am looking forward to trying it out again soon.
This week will be another push at the gym- I must try to get back into the swing of things and back into spinning classes as well. I need to be fit enough to get out and enjoy riding when the warmer weather arrives. Spring is on the way!

The best sushi in town

is still "The Chief's". We popped in this evening (it also happens to be his birthday today) and were certainly not disappointed. The place was full- it is good to see his business going well.

Home already, sorting out a few things and will probably head across the road to the pub to watch the England v Switzerland football match on the television.

I have just replied to IWCs invitation to attend the SIHH Watch show in Geneva. It will be a lot of fun, great to catch up with friends from all over the place and see what IWC and the other watch companies have in store for us for 2008/9.

Sunday 3 February 2008

Well, it's official

Restaurant Josef in Zürich doesn't have any more 2003 Rockford Basket Press on the Wine List! Scotty and I celebrated the start of the new month by drinking them out of the wine on Friday night. A pity really as the restaurant is good fun, serves good food and is great value but, sadly, there will be no more of one of my favourite wines to be had there.....

One of the poorest pieces of modern design is part of the Nikon Catalogue- a small remote release that doesn't give you the opportunity to attach a cord in order that it can be hung around the neck........ accordingly, I managed to lose one last weekend :-( They say that every cloud has a silver lining- while in the camera store purchasing a replacement yesterday, I spotted this little baby sitting among the used lenses. I am excited about my 180/2.8 and am heading out to take some photos with it shortly.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
p.s. How was the chilli crab, Moose?
