Lucerne is a pretty little city

and it was nice to be there fairly early, be able to get some photos before the sun rose too high and beat most of the tourist crowds. Lunch in Zug and a quick visit to ars-imago was just icing on the cake.
I'm even happy with the way that the photos are turning out.

Tune of the Day: Vicar In A Tutu   by The Smiths

Friday 29 June 2012

My new tripod head makes life more enjoyable....

so enjoyable in fact, that I took it for a walk up the hill this evening in order to grab a shot of a lovely old tree in the beautiful light. Lots of fun.

The Chicken Restaurant

serves seriously good terrine, steak and foie gras. 'Nuff said.

Tuesday 26 June 2012

This big camera is lots of fun

and with some practice, I'm starting to like its output as well. I shot a roll of colour film on Saturday; collected and scanned the negatives yesterday. That was enough to inspire me to order another lens and an extra film back.......

Tune of the Day: Stretch Out And Wait  by The Smiths

Monday 25 June 2012

Saturday evening was a fun bbq with friends

and then we had a very relaxed Sunday..... before I met up with some other friends in town to watch the England v Italia match in the evening. There were some chances, quite a few mistakes and after 2 hours still no goals. Seriously, if that is the way to win.... they don't want me watching.

The only photo from my last Challenge

which I didn't share was this one. It was taken on Wednesday and by the time we returned home on Wednesday night, I was too tired to even post it here.

Friday 22 June 2012

Finish of the week-long challenge and the start

of my week off. We are looking forward to having a couple of bbqs and generally taking things easy. I will certainly be taking some photos...

Tune of the Day: Whip It    by Devo

Thursday 21 June 2012

Yesterday was another successful day of photography

as was indeed today. It was late enough when we arrived home last night that I didn't wish to post another photo here, so I will spare you all that one. I have been enjoying this Challenge and I'm really looking forward to a week off and having a sleep in  :-)

Tune of the Day: I'll Be Gone   by Tom Waits

Tuesday 19 June 2012

Managed to get another one today

to keep my project up and running. It has been warm today and threatening to storm- which I'm sort of hoping will happen because I would like things to cool off.

Tune of the Day: Over The Hills And Far Away   by Led Zeppelin

Monday 18 June 2012

Day 3 and I'm back to digital

as shooting and developing film takes more time than I had on my hands this evening. Happy with the result and it is a typical half abstract shot.

Sunday 17 June 2012

Day 2 of my Challenge

meant that I was walking around Züriwest with a film camera having the same Nikkor 35mm lens attached to it. There is a large art installation in the area for the duration of the summer and I wanted to photograph some of the pieces in the hope that at least one photo would be worthy of NikonCafe.

Tune of the Day: Hold On   by Tom Waits

Saturday 16 June 2012

The word of the day was Mauro

but that was yesterday and the word today was Nikon. I was out and about and took a few photos- even a couple which I like  :-)

Tune of the Day: I'm Not Sorry   by Morrissey

Tuesday 12 June 2012

Received an e-mail today saying

that Catherine's new tripod has arrived, so I will try to collect that tomorrow evening. At least that will provide me with a half hour of entertainment installing the head when I get home  :-)
Starting another photo challenge on Saturday which should be a lot of fun.

Tune of the Day:   Most Wanted   by Cults

Sunday 10 June 2012

In spite of a lousy weather report,

I was able to get out and shoot a roll of film today. After having an argument with my light meter over the past few weeks, I believe that we are going to be friends again and it looks as if things are on the improve.
Still really enjoying the new camera- and it is a pleasure to use on the new ballhead, but I may have to shop for some more bits and pieces again soon.

Thursday 7 June 2012

It is raining again this evening and I'm starting

to wonder if summer really did come on that Tuesday back in March. Hoping that things are a little warmer and dryer on the weekend so that I can get out and about, do some exercise and take a few pics.
Off to do a little beer-drinking tomorrow evening with the party champs of Canton Zürich.

Congratulations to Lord Hobbsodopoulos- the new passport looks wonderful tucked into your striped apron!

Tune of the Day: Don't Sell It   by The Cruel Sea

Tuesday 5 June 2012

I could get comfortable with the idea

of having Monday off. A pity that the weather didn't co-operate a little better, but it was a most enjoyable way to start the week. There was a package waiting for me in the office when I returned today- not another camera, but something else that will make photography easier and even more fun. Keep your eyes open!

Sunday 3 June 2012

Many thanks to Enzo and Cornelia

for a fantastic dinner last night. A wonderful menu, great company and a very pleasant early summer evening spent on the terrace. A pity that today wasn't half as nice.

Tune of the Day:  Cold, Cold Ground   by Tom Waits

Friday 1 June 2012

I have just ordered

a new ballhead and plates to fit my cameras...... this is going to be fun.
Out for dinner last night to a restaurant that I hadn't visited before- was most enjoyable and not even too late home. Now it is Friday evening and I'm ready for the weekend.
