You owe it to your ears

to check out the album "Straight To You" which is a Nick Cave tribute done by Radio JJJ in Sydney. I only heard of Abbe May recently, but she really rocks "Lie Down Here And Be My Girl" and "Depth Charge Ethel". Well worth the price of admission.

Wassup? It's all gone quiet out there.....

I have had to turn my music up a little louder.

Tune of the Day:  Paradiso   by Cononongo No.1

Sunday 25 March 2012

Sometimes it is great to be old-fashioned

and I really enjoy taking photos with my film camera. Walking around with this last week was a lot of fun!

Tune of the Day:  She's Got The Jack   by AC/DC

Saturday 24 March 2012

Just about to head downstairs in order

to put a roll of b+w film into the tank to be developed in the morning. Today was a gorgeous spring day and I took the opportunity to wander around in Zürich capturing a little colour.

I love it when I get it really wrong

this weekend the weather is going to be wonderful and the authorities are stealing an hour from us in order that we can go to work sooner on Monday morning. Talk me through that?!

Tune of the Day:   Devil's Haircut    by Beck

Wednesday 21 March 2012

It's only another week and a half

until we change to Summer Time. The extra daylight in the evenings after work will come in very handy and I'm looking forward to being able to take more photos during the week.

Tune of the Day:  Nick The Stripper   by Johnny Mackay

Sunday 18 March 2012

Our summer visitors are back.

For a number of years now we have had a pair of storks nesting on the outskirts of our village. We went for a walk earlier and I managed to grab a couple of photos of the large nest and one of the birds keeping an eye on things. This was one of the very few occasions upon which I would rather have had a much heavier and longer lens to carry with me  :-)

Tune of the Day:  Trust Us     by Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band

Saturday 17 March 2012

We had this one a little while back

and it was seriously special. In spite of there being more and more to choose from in the way of wine, the really enjoyable bottles tend to be the ones that we have known and loved for years (this was a 1998 St Henri in case you can't read the label). Bottoms up!

Tune of the Day:  Ride The River     by Cale and Clapton

Thursday 15 March 2012

It's already Friday for some..

ie, Catherine is not going to the office tomorrow! It will be nice to come home and be able to have a bbq dinner and take it easy after work and then get ready for the weekend. I'm looking forward to taking lots of photos and trying to get some developing done as well.
Yes, I received another brick of film in the post this week   :-)

Tune of the Day:  Sultan Drops   by Amon Tobin

Sunday 11 March 2012

Had a great dinner last night

with a few watch buddies from different parts of the world. The food and drink in the Mövenpick are very good and the restaurant upstairs is a beautiful room.

Tune of the Day: Werewolves of London   by The Flamin' Groovies

Thursday 8 March 2012

Found a small shard of Thracian pottery

on one side  of which was a barely discernible rundown on the rules of Greco-Roman wrestling. The reverse was a small note: "He who lends to the Greeks will be shafted."
Good luck with the debt swap guys.

Tune of the Day: Bitter and Twisted    by Amon Tobin

Sunday 4 March 2012

A waste of a nice, sunny Sunday

but hopefully there will be another one of those in the near future.

Tune of the Day: Ship Of Fools    by John Cale

Saturday 3 March 2012

Second bbq of 2012

was also a lot of fun. A very pleasant day and the opportunity to open a fantastic bottle of wine, cook a steak on the bbq and have a very pleasant dinner with Catherine. Thanks for shopping Curly  xx
