Sunday 31 July 2011

Sunday morning started the right way.....

with a nice sleep-in and then a great breakfast. It appears as if the day will be good- perhaps even a bike ride later and then maybe a chance to take some more photos.

Tune of the Day:  Get Some, Go Again    by Rollins Band

Saturday 30 July 2011

One of the most relaxed Saturdays in recent memory

a little shopping, a little cooking, a nice dinner and a bottle of good wine. Questions?

Hensby 664

and according to Roy and HG, the Schlecks are cheats. At least Cadel brought home the sack! Not a lot to report on this miserable Wednesday evening although I am looking forward to seeing more Grisacre photos soon......

Them great eats keep a comin'

I left the Chef on her own for a couple of hours today and came home to find this lot waiting for me. A fantastic lamb shank and potato curry, served with naan bread and home-made coriander chutney - the recipe is here
Barcelona is booked and, please be careful, I might even visit a golf course next month.

Tune of the Day:   Tread Lightly   by Kirsty MacColl

Saturday 23 July 2011

What a day!

Cadel Evans has ridden himself into the history books and barring earth-shattering occurrences, should arrive in Paris in yellow tomorrow afternoon as Australia's first ever Tour de France winner.
Last night's dinner at Wiesengrund was wonderful- fantastic food, great wines and enjoyable company. No less impressive was the good Lord Hobbsodopoulos coming to terms with a hamburger at lunchtime on Friday........

Tune of the Day:   Exodus   by     Bob Marley

Thursday 21 July 2011

Things became a little scary up in Galibier-land today

and Andy Schleck did a fantastic job riding himself and his brother right into contention for this year's Tour de France title. Alp d'Huez tomorrow- anyone care to bet that it will be Frank Schleck's turn to rattle the field?
Cadel Evans is still very much in the hunt as well and if he can stick to his guns tomorrow, he can remain very happy about his chance Contre le Montre on Saturday. Bring it on!

P.S. Get well soon, Hobbsie

Tuesday 19 July 2011

It was pretty miserable this evening

and that makes for a cool night and hopefully a good sleep. Heading out for dinner with some customers tomorrow night and then out again on Friday night with a group of friends. Wish me luck   :-)

Tune of the Day:  Is This All There Is?   by Los Lobos

Sunday 17 July 2011

Vaduz was fun

and the guys were in good form. After arriving back home, I changed clothing, grabbed my camera and headed off to visit Fretsche to check out some bikes and watch a little fun racing. It was a beautiful summer afternoon and there was also plenty to look at.
Thank you!

Thursday 14 July 2011

Off to see the Prince tomorrow

and that should make for a fun Friday evening. When I return on Saturday I have a pretty full program and then we have guests coming for Sunday dinner- looking forward to catching up with a few people on the weekend.

Tune of the Day:  Empty Frame by Eno & Cale

Wednesday 13 July 2011

The thunderstorm last night was

world class. I sat bolt upright in bed at 1:15 and there was hail banging on the windows, howling winds, lightning and buckets of rain. Sadly, it didn't cool things in a hurry and I ended up having a very poor night's sleep.

Bye-Bye Mooses

after some fun times here in Zürich, Marty, Party, Miss and Mini Moose are moving to the mountains to shake Zermatt up a little. If they have half as much fun down there as we had here, it will be a fantabulous end to the Grisacres Tour. Take care guys!

Tune of the Day:  Spanish Caravan   by The Doors

Wednesday 6 July 2011

Lord Hobbsodopoulos

tells me of a 3 tonne prehistoric wombat-like creature, the remains of which were found on a Queensland farm. Anyone wanna bet that it wore maroon in the State Of Hate?

Tune of the Day:  Weekend in Brooklyn   by The Kisses

Monday 4 July 2011

Not a bad weekend and although

Zürich is a Moose-free zone at the moment, they will be back soon enough. We had a lot of laughs, some good food and a couple of memorable bottles of wine.

Tune of the Day:  Out of the Blue   by Roxy Music

Sunday 3 July 2011

In spite of my lack of reporting, the Mooses are here

and these guys are on fire. We have all been enjoying ourselves very much and the comfortably cool weather in combination with an evening bbq has been terrific. More to come......
